About Bhitiharwa Gandhi Ashram
In November 1917, in the middle of the Champaran indigo satyagraha, Gandhi opened a school in this village for the children of the tenant farmers, and Kasturba taught here. The hut he used has been rebuilt and there is a small museum with photographs and the records of the inquiry into the tinkathia system. It is the most tangible Gandhi site in Champaran, and almost nobody comes.
