About Shankaracharya Temple
An old Shiva temple on the Gopadri hill above Srinagar, reached by a stepped path of about 240 steps from the car park. The stone temple dates back many centuries, and the view over Dal Lake, the city and the Pir Panjal is wide and clear. The road up is guarded and you have to carry identity documents.
