About Sardar Samand Lake
A large reservoir on the Jodhpur to Pali road, with a hunting lodge that Umaid Singh built on the rocky shore in 1933, now a heritage hotel still owned by the family. The lake pulls in flamingos, pelicans and cranes in winter and blackbuck graze the Bishnoi fields around it. The water level swings with the monsoon, so some years the shore is a long walk out.

- The 1933 Art Deco hunting lodge
