About Saptakoteshwar Temple, Narve

A Shiva temple of the Kadamba period, set among areca groves at Narve in Bicholim. The original shrine stood on Divar island and was moved to Narve, and in the 1600s it was rebuilt under Shivaji, whose rule here gave the temple its present form. It mixes Kadamba, Indo-Islamic and European styles, with a dome and a lamp tower. Quiet and uncrowded most days, and its festivals follow the Hindu calendar.
