About Ramabhar Stupa

A big bare brick mound, about 15 m high, marking where the Buddha was cremated by the Mallas of Kushinara. Old texts call it the Mukutbandhan chaitya. It stands in a lawn 1.5 km east of the Mahaparinirvana Temple near the Hiranyavati stream, and pilgrims walk round it in silence. Go at dusk.
