About Nohkalikai Falls
One of the tallest plunge waterfalls in India, with a drop of around 340 metres, near Cherrapunji (Sohra). The water falls into a deep pool of green colour, and the name comes from the Khasi story of Ka Likai, a woman who jumped from the cliff in grief. A viewing deck is a few minutes from the car park. In the dry months the flow is thin, and in the monsoon the view is often hidden in clouds, so the early post monsoon months are a good bet.
