About Murlen National Park

A hundred square kilometres of montane forest 45 km north-east of Champhai, between 1400 and 1900 metres, so dense that parts of the canopy are said to let through almost no light. Hoolock gibbon, serow, Hume pheasant, which is the state bird, and clouded leopard live here; you walk, you do not drive. Take the permit and a guide from Champhai and go in the cool months.
