About Hnahlan Vineyards

A border village about 40 km north of Champhai whose slopes are covered in grape vines, a crop the farmers took up in the 1990s. The Champhai Grape Growers Society makes Zawlaidi wine here, the one alcohol legally made and sold in a dry state since the prohibition law was amended for it in 2007. The grapes ripen through the late monsoon; the drive is the other reason to go.
