About Mirzapur Ghats
Mirzapur was the great Ganga port of the 19th century before the railway killed the river trade, and the ghats remain: Pakka Ghat with its stone steps, the Ghanta Ghar clock tower behind, and a line of old merchant houses. The town is India's carpet and brassware centre and the workshops along the Varanasi road will show you the looms. Evening on the ghats is the time.
