About Lakhaniya Dari
A waterfall in a gorge of the Kaimur hills near Ahraura, 45 km from Mirzapur, where the stream drops over a sandstone ledge into a long pool. The overhangs on the gorge wall carry prehistoric rock paintings, some of the oldest in Uttar Pradesh. Flow is strong only in the monsoon and the descent is on wet rock, so go with care and not alone. Dry by December.
