About Shahid Smarak Meerut
A 30-metre memorial column in a garden, raised for the centenary of 1857 and the focus of the 10 May commemoration each year. The Government Freedom Struggle Museum next to it holds dioramas, arms and documents on the revolt and on Meerut in the national movement. Modest, but it is the one place in the city that tells the 1857 story in sequence.
