About Hastinapur
The Kuru capital of the Mahabharata, on the old Ganga bank 37 km from Meerut, excavated by B. B. Lal in the 1950s. Today it is mainly a Jain tirth: three tirthankaras were born here, and Jambudweep, Kailash Parvat and the Shwetambar temples spread across the town. Pandeshwar temple and the old mound mark the Mahabharata side. Everything is spread out, so keep a vehicle.
