About Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary
A 2000 square kilometre strip of Ganga floodplain, grassland and khadar forest running through five districts, with a real population of swamp deer, Gangetic dolphin in the river and gharial released here. There is no gate and no jeep safari; you go in with forest staff or a local guide from Hastinapur or Bijnor. Winter birding on the wetlands is the strongest draw.
What to see and do
- Swamp deer in the khadar grassland
- Gangetic dolphin and gharial in the river
