About Leh Palace

A nine storey royal palace built in the 17th century by King Sengge Namgyal, towering over the old town of Leh. It is now partly ruined and looked after by the ASI, with an old prayer hall and a museum of thangkas and royal items. The roof gives a wide view of Leh and the Stok Kangri range. It is a short, steep climb from the bazaar, and the altitude can make it tiring on the first day.
