About Jama Masjid (Bari Masjid)
The largest of the Sharqi mosques, completed about 1470 by Hussain Shah, the last of the dynasty, on a platform six metres above the street so you climb a broad flight of steps to the gate. The central pylon is taller and plainer than at Atala, and the prayer hall behind it is a great barrel-vaulted room without pillars. Sikandar Lodi destroyed most of the Sharqi city in the 1490s; this and Atala are what he spared.
