About Govind Dev Ji Temple
The image of Krishna here was brought from Vrindavan around 1735 to escape Aurangzeb-era demolitions, and Jai Singh II set it in his own garden so he could see it from the Chandra Mahal. It is the presiding deity of Jaipur; the city treats him as its real ruler. Darshan happens in seven fixed slots through the day and the courtyard fills to bursting on Janmashtami.
