About Jal Mahal
A red sandstone pleasure palace standing in Man Sagar lake on the Amer road, with four of its five floors underwater when the lake is full. Sawai Madho Singh I enlarged it in the 1750s for duck shoots. It is closed to the public, so this is a stop on the bund for photographs, at sunset or under lights after dark. Winter brings ducks and coots to the lake.
