About Bateshwar Sthan, Kahalgaon
A Shiva temple on a rocky rise at the Ganga bank near Kahalgaon, with three small rock islands standing in the river off the town. The rocks carry old carvings, some of them Gupta and Pala period, and Vikramshila is a couple of kilometres away, so the two make one outing. Shivratri and the winter months are the time; the NTPC plant on the skyline is the price you pay.
