About Bade Hanuman Temple

A 20 foot Hanuman lies on his back in a pit below ground level near the fort, and every monsoon the Ganga rises and covers him, which the temple treats as the river bathing the god. It is one of the few reclining Hanuman idols anywhere. Tuesdays and Saturdays are heavy. It sits between the Sangam and the fort, so it is on the way to both.
