About Amarnath Cave Temple

A natural cave at 3,888 metres holding an ice lingam of Lord Shiva, one of the great Himalayan pilgrimages. The yatra runs for several weeks in July and August, with registration, a health certificate and a yatra permit all required in advance. Two routes lead there, the long one from Pahalgam and the short steep one from Baltal. Dates, rules and the route change each year, so check the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.
