About Pahalgam
A hill town on the Lidder river, the usual base for Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari and for the Amarnath yatra. Pine forests, river rapids and open meadows give it a broad, gentle character. Ponies, river rafting in season and quiet walks along the Lidder are popular. Security arrangements were tightened in 2025, so check which viewpoints are open before you plan.
