About Chandanwari
The starting point of the Amarnath yatra, about 16 km from Pahalgam, with a snow bridge over the Lidder that lasts into summer. The valley is alpine, with snow patches into June. Outside the yatra season it is a quiet place for a picnic, and in winter it is closed under snow.
