About Tabo Monastery
Founded in 996 CE, among the oldest continuously functioning Buddhist monasteries in India and called the Ajanta of the Himalaya for its old murals and stucco figures. It is a UNESCO tentative list site. The compound has nine temples and photography is not allowed inside.
