About Sigandur Chowdeshwari Temple
Sigandur is a goddess Chowdeshwari temple on the far side of the Sharavathi backwater, whose devotees hang a board naming her as the guardian against theft on shops and vehicles across the Malnad. For decades the only way across from Holebagilu was a launch ferry carrying cars and buses, which was itself part of the visit; a long cable stayed bridge across the backwater opened in 2025 and now takes the traffic. The annual jatre is in January and draws very large crowds. Sagara is the nearest town, about 40 km away, and Jog Falls can be covered on the same day.
