About Shergarh Fort, Dholpur
A fort on the bank of the Chambal about 30 kilometres from Dholpur, rebuilt by Sher Shah Suri in 1540 on an older Rajput site to guard the crossing against Malwa. It is badly ruined, with the outer walls, a few gates, a Hanuman temple and scattered Jain sculptures, and the Chambal ravines drop away behind it. Nobody else will be there.
