About Sangetsar (Madhuri) Lake
An earthquake in 1950 dammed a stream and drowned a stand of pine forest, and the dead trunks still stand out of the water. It was Sangetsar until Koyla was filmed here in 1997 and everyone started calling it Madhuri Lake after Madhuri Dixit. The lake is 35 km from Tawang on a fork off the Bum La road, covered by the same permit, and there is an army canteen serving tea and Maggi at the edge.
