About Jaswant Garh War Memorial
Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat of the 4 Garhwal Rifles held this position against the Chinese advance for 72 hours in November 1962, helped by two Monpa women, Sela and Nura, and died here. The Army keeps the memorial, his bed is still made every night, and the jawans serve free tea to everyone who stops. It is on the main road between Sela and Jang, so every vehicle to Tawang pulls in.
