About Sangau
The large Lai village where the Phawngpui climb begins, a long two days from Aizawl through Lunglei and Lawngtlai. It sits at about 1400 metres under the mountain, with a forest rest house, a few homestays and guides who know the summit path. Come for the mountain and stay a night either side; the village gives you the rest: church singing, cold evenings, and the Blue Mountain filling the view.
