About Lawngtlai
Headquarters of the Lai Autonomous District Council and the last real town before Phawngpui, about 300 kilometres and a hard two days from Aizawl. The Lai are one of three southern peoples with their own councils, alongside the Mara at Siaha and the Chakma at Kamalanagar. This is where you sort permits, fuel and a guide before going on to Sangau, and the Kaladan road to the Myanmar border passes through.
