About Sairang and the Tlawng

The town on the Tlawng river 20 km below Aizawl, a hot river valley after the ridge, and since September 2025 the rail terminus of Mizoram. The Bairabi to Sairang line took over a decade, has 45 tunnels and a bridge, number 196, whose pier stands 104 metres, taller than Qutub Minar. If you arrive by train this is where Mizoram begins; if not, it is a half day down to the river and back.
