About Rihand Dam
A concrete dam on the Rihand at Pipri, finished in 1962, holding back the Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar, one of the largest reservoirs in India, with thermal plants ringing the shore. It made Sonbhadra the power capital of the state and gave it a lake the size of a district. Boating from the dam side, and a big sunset. Sonbhadra is the only Indian district that borders four states.
