About Raxaul and the Birgunj Border

The busiest India-Nepal road crossing, where Raxaul on the Indian side runs straight into Birgunj on the Nepali side across a short bridge, and Indian citizens walk over with a photo ID and no passport. Birgunj is a trading town with a clock tower, temples and Nepali food, and the buses to Kathmandu leave from here. It is a border-town day, not a scenic one, but crossing on foot into another country is worth doing once.
