About Ranthambore Fort

A Chauhan fort of the 10th century on a flat-topped hill inside the park, one of the six Hill Forts of Rajasthan on the World Heritage list. Hammir Dev held it against Alauddin Khilji in 1301 until betrayal and jauhar ended it. The road in through the forest and the steep stepped climb are free; you often see deer, langur and sometimes a tiger track on the way. Allow half a day.
