About Khandar Fort
A ridge fort 45 kilometres from Sawai Madhopur on the eastern edge of the Ranthambore forest, held in turn by the Chauhans, the Sisodias of Mewar and the Mughals. Long ramparts follow the hill, and inside are several ruined temples, tanks and a Jain shrine. Very few people go, and there is no ticket or guide; carry water.
What to see and do
- Ramparts along the ridge
- Ruined temples and tanks inside
