About Rajnagar Palace Ruins

Maharaja Rameshwar Singh of Darbhanga built a new capital here in the early twentieth century, with the Navlakha Palace, a secretariat, and a line of temples, and the 1934 earthquake wrecked most of it within a few years of completion. The roofless palace shell, stucco figures still clinging to the walls, is what people come to see. The Kali, Durga and Girija temples survived and are in daily use.
