About Puri Beach
A long, wide beach a short walk from the Jagannath temple, with a stretch near the Swargadwar crematorium ghats that is as much a pilgrim site as a seaside one. Fishing boats pull in at dawn, and sand artists build large sculptures near the Golden Beach end. The surf can be strong, so swim only where lifeguards are posted and keep out of the water in rough weather.
