About Jagannath Temple, Puri

The twelfth century temple of Jagannath, one of the four Char Dham, rebuilt by the Eastern Ganga king Anantavarman Chodaganga. The main tower rises about 65 metres and the flag at the top is changed every day by a priest who climbs it. Only Hindus are allowed inside, and phones, cameras and bags must be left at the cloakroom outside. The Rath Yatra in June or July pulls lakhs of people to the Grand Road.
