About Pattiseema

Pattiseema is a village on the Godavari below Polavaram where the Veerabhadra Swamy temple stands on Devakuta hill, a small rocky island in the river reached by boat in a few minutes. It is one of the older Shaiva shrines of the region and the Maha Shivaratri fair draws large crowds. The Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme that sends Godavari water to the Krishna begins here, and boats to the Papikondalu gorge also leave from this stretch. It is about 40 km from Rajamahendravaram via Kovvur.
