About Guntupalli Buddhist Caves
Guntupalli is a hill side Buddhist site from about the 2nd century BCE, 40 km north west of Eluru near Kamavarapukota. A circular rock cut chaitya hall with a stupa inside, a row of rock cut monk cells, and a cluster of brick stupas and a large vihara on the terrace above make it one of the best preserved early Buddhist sites in Andhra.
