About Pattadakal
Pattadakal was the coronation site of the Badami Chalukyas, and its group of nine Hindu temples and one Jain temple from the 7th and 8th centuries is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the place where north Indian nagara and south Indian dravida temple styles were built side by side, with the Virupaksha temple of Queen Lokamahadevi the largest and best preserved. The site sits on the Malaprabha river 22 km from Badami and is compact enough to see in two hours. Chalukya Utsava, a dance festival, is held here in late January or February.
