About Kudalasangama
Kudalasangama is where the Krishna and Malaprabha rivers meet, and it is the most sacred place for Lingayats because the 12th century reformer Basavanna spent his final years here and attained aikya. His samadhi, the Aikya Mantapa, is now reached by a causeway into the Almatti backwater, and the old Sangameshwara temple stands on the bank. A large ashram complex runs a museum and hostels for pilgrims. It is 15 km from Hungund and around 50 km from Badami.
