About Banashankari Temple
Banashankari, a form of Parvati, is the family goddess of many households across north Karnataka and Maharashtra, and her temple at Cholachagudda, 5 km from Badami, was first built by the Chalukyas and rebuilt in the 18th century. The present shrine stands beside the large Harida Tirtha tank ringed by stone pavilions and a lamp tower. The Banashankari Jatre in January and February runs for about a month with a chariot procession and a huge rural fair. Combine it with the Badami caves.
