About Mandawa
Thakur Nawal Singh built the fort in 1755 and the Marwari merchants who traded through here painted their havelis with everything from Krishna to steam trains and Europeans in motor cars. Mandawa has the densest cluster and the most guides, and its lanes have doubled for half a dozen Bollywood films. Castle Mandawa is a hotel. Half a day covers the Murmuria, Goenka Double, Jhunjhunwala and Gulab Rai Ladia havelis on foot.
