About Khetri
Swami Vivekananda came to Khetri three times between 1891 and 1897 as the guest of Raja Ajit Singh, who paid his passage to Chicago and is said to have given him the name and the turban he wore there; the Ramakrishna Mission keeps an ashram in the old palace. The ruined Bhopalgarh fort is a stiff climb above the town. Panna Lal Shah ka Talab is a stepped tank ringed with chhatris, and the Khetri copper mines are a few kilometres on.
