About Kudremukh

Kudremukh, the horse face peak, rises to 1894 metres inside Kudremukh National Park, which is a component of the Western Ghats World Heritage serial site. The trek starts at Mullodi village, reached by jeep from Kalasa, and runs about 9 km one way over rolling shola grassland with several stream crossings, so most people take eight to nine hours for the round trip. A forest department permit and a local guide are compulsory and the daily quota is limited, so book ahead. The old iron ore township of Kudremukh and Hanuman Gundi falls lie on the road in from Karkala.
