About Kemmangundi
Kemmangundi, also called K R Hills, was the summer retreat of the Mysuru king Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV and is now a small horticulture department hill station at about 1434 metres. The rose garden, Rock Garden and the short Z Point walk for the sunset are inside the estate, and the government guest houses are the only stay. Hebbe falls, 10 km down a rough estate track, needs a shared jeep and is the main outing; Kalhatti falls with its Veerabhadra shrine is on the road down towards Tarikere. The road up from Lingadahalli is narrow and gets landslips in heavy rain.
