About Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary

About 35 square kilometres of steep forest in the hills east of Lunglei, between 400 and 1300 metres. There are no jeep tracks and no lodges; you walk in from Khawnglung village with a guide and a forest permit, and most of what you see is birds, with hoolock gibbon heard more often than seen. It is for people who want a quiet forest walk rather than a wildlife checklist.
