About Kateel Durgaparameshwari Temple
The Kateel temple to Durga Parameshwari stands on a small island in the Nandini river, reached by a short bridge, about 26 km from Mangaluru near the airport. It is one of the busiest Shakti shrines on the coast and its Yakshagana troupes perform for free through the dry season as offerings from devotees. Free meals are served at midday. The annual fair in April brings the largest crowds.
