About Kadri Manjunatha Temple

Kadri Manjunatha is the oldest big temple inside Mangaluru city, on a low hill with nine stone tanks fed by a spring. The bronze Lokeshwara image here dates to 968 CE and points to the site having been a Buddhist and later Natha centre before it became a Shiva temple. The Jogi mutt and caves of the Natha saints stand on the hill above. It is 4 km from Mangaluru Central station and easy to add to a city visit.
