About Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary, Bihar
The largest sanctuary in Bihar, 1,342 square kilometres of sal and dry deciduous forest across the Kaimur plateau around Adhaura, and proposed as a tiger reserve. Leopard, sloth bear, chinkara and four-horned antelope are present; tigers occasionally cross from Uttar Pradesh. There are no organised safaris, so this is jeep tracks, waterfalls, prehistoric rock paintings and very few people. Get a permit at the range office and take a local driver.
